Adam Moss stepping down at New York magazine

Adam Moss, the award-winning editor-in-chief of New York magazine, announced he is stepping down after 15 years at the helm.

Moss took over shortly after financier Bruce Wasserstein beat out a host of suitors in an auction, paying $55 million for the publication.

The magazine developed cutting-edge web properties and continued to be run by a Wasserstein family trust following Wasserstein’s sudden death in 2009.

Daughter Pam Wasserstein, the current CEO, said last year that the parent company, New York Media, was exploring strategic options for the magazine, which was widely seen as putting out the For Sale sign. But there has been little talk of anyone seriously pursuing the title.
