X Factor’s Simon Cowell shocked as singer says she’s his ‘ex’ before audition

Simon Cowell seemed pretty confused as an American singer arrived on stage and declared she is his ‘ex.’

But, it may be this is not quite what she meant as it turned out the singer, named Panda Ross, had been on the show in the US three times before and hoped she is the one with the X Factor the panel so desperately crave.

Panda, a barista hailing from Dallas, Texas, hoped fourth time’s a charm as she aimed to impress her favourite judge, Simon, along with new cohorts Louis Tomlinson, Robbie Williams and Ayda Field.

She hoped her version of Natural Woman by the late, great Aretha Franklin would push her forward in the UK version of the competition.

As Panda arrived on stage, she declared: "Simon! Oh Simon!"

Simon laughed, but with the faint expression that he has seen a ghost, before replying in kind: "Oh, who are you?"

Panda giggled with excitement before saying: "Your ex, baby mama, but I still love you though. I came all the way across the pond to give you a little bit more."

She asked him why he sent her home on previous series, after she embraced the Head Judge.

It may be she meant she was the ‘X’ they are looking for, as she then wowed the crowd with a big performance of Aretha’s classic tune.

Ahead of the audition, she said: "Simon’s gotten a little bit older but he’s still sexy. In America people love me. I just hope my craziness will be received well by the British people.

"I’m going to give them a piece of panda pie!"

In her previous attempt, Panda got through to the boot camp stage of the competition before being struck by pneumonia, because of which she ended up in hospital.

Panda’s first attempt was in 2013, when she was 43 years old.

And it looked like today was her time.

Simon called her work "pure magic" and said he wanted her to have this moment as they go back so many years, joking their relationship was "true love."

The X Factor continues Saturday 22nd September at 8:35pm on ITV.
