X Factor star George Windsor left traumatised after car-jacking by knife-wielding thugs

The 23-year-old, who appeared on the show in 2016, was returning home from a studio session in Birmingham when his friend’s car was targeted by the violent group.

But as they pulled over for a catch up he was dragged out of the car by the men who demanded his possessions – and drove off with his phone and friend’s car.

He told the Mirror that a man approached the vehicle asking for some roll up paper before reaching in to grab the car keys.

George revealed: "He unlocked the car, grabbed me by the back of the neck and said 'You can give me that f*****g phone or I'll f*****g kill you'.

"He threw me out the car and smacked me on the back of the head to try and knock me out, then I saw this flash of a knife and that's when I thought I can't argue with these people, I need to back away, so I gave them my phone."

According to George, the thugs then tried to run them over after taking the car and fleeing.

The singer, who made it through to the six chair challenge singing David Bowie's Let's Dance, called the police straight away.

Fortunately both his phone and his friend’s car were recovered but George has been left with lasting issues, including debilitating anxiety.

He said: "My heart and my anxiety is just going through the roof, I keep looking through the blinds and checking the doors, it's had a massive effect on my mental health.

"I've had horrible nightmares since, I'm thinking that people are going to come to my house, they took my bag with all my ID in and my keys and my phone. I don't want to leave the house to be honest."
