New X Factor judge Louis Tomlinson had a bit of a surprise when a blast from the past showed up during the audition stages.
On tonight’s (September 15) episode of the ITV singing show, Tom Richards auditions for the judging panel – made up of Louis, Simon Cowell, Robbie Williams and Ayda Field – eight years after he originally had a crack at the show by auditioning the same years as the One Directioner himself.
Yep. Tom, also known as Welshman Tom, returns to the auditions tonight where he’s instantly recognised by his former friend.
“How are you Lad? We know each other!” a very excited Louis said after seeing the singer appear on stage. “You auditioned the same year as me, right?”
The two then had a bit of a catch-up, with Louis asking what the singer’s been doing over the past few years, to which Tom replied that he’s been “grafting” and “gigging”.
He then launched into James Bay’s ‘Let It Go’ for the judges.
We’ll have to wait until the episode airs tonight to see just what Louis and his co-judges think, but all this reunion talk totally got us thinking about a One Direction reunion.
But it sounds like his X Factor reunion with Tom is probably the only one we’re going to be seeing from Louis anytime soon, at least according to Nick Grimshaw.
The DJ made it pretty clear last month that he doesn’t think we’ll ever see Louis back with bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik when he admitted that he doesn’t think we’ll ever see them reunite.
“When we started this show they were all together as a five piece,” Nick said on his Radio 1 show in August. “Do you think they’ll ever get back together? No, not a chance. It’s not happening, is it?”
But while that sounds like bad news, lucky for us, it sounds like Louis has other ideas.
The X Factor airs tonight (September 15) at 8.25pm and tomorrow (September 16) at 8pm on ITV.
