Wonder Woman 1984 Footage Shown at CinemaCon Includes First Look at Kristen Wiig

Warner Bros. presented CinemaCon attendees with a look at footage from Wonder Woman 1984, only a few moments of which were new and the bulk of it the same as the shopping mall and street scenes shown at San Diego Comic-Con 2018. But its most notable new moment was the first glimpse at Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva, aka the villainess Cheetah.

The footage did not show Barbara in her Cheetah guise, though, but she still seemed in an unsettled state in the few shots shown. In a pre-recorded greeting to the attending theater owners, exhibitors, and press, director Patty Jenkins called Barbara “sometimes a friend, sometimes a colleague” of Diana Prince who “becomes Diana’s nemesis” along the way.

The new footage showed Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince dressed in a white dress and attending some sort of gala in Washington D.C. (possibly a political-oriented event or maybe a museum gala).

We later see Diana, still in the same dress, walking by the water on the National Mall with none other than Steve Trevor, also all dressed up, on her arm.

Wait, didn’t Steve Trevor die in the first film? He sure did but we have some theories about how he could be alive for the sequel.

The sizzle reel also showed Wonder Woman battling a guard inside what appeared to be a hallway at the White House.

Wonder Woman 1984 doesn’t hit theaters until June 2020.
