Will Kate Gosselin Go for Custody of Collin Gosselin After Allegations of Abuse Against Jon Gosselin?

The days of Jon & Kate Plus 8 are behind us, but there’s still plenty of drama within the Gosselin family. Jon has custody of two of his children, Hannah and Collin, while Kate has custody of the other six. And Jon’s spoken out against Kate for how she treated Collin.

Now, Jon’s the one in the spotlight. According to Collin, Jon was physically abusive against him. And Kate’s speaking out regarding the matter, too.

Jon Gosselin attained custody of his son, Collin Gosselin

Jon and Kate had a highly-publicized divorce over a decade ago, and it seems they’ve been fighting for the kids ever since. Hannah was the first of their eight children to decide she wanted to live with Jon. And Collin was a whole different story. According to Kate, she sent Collin to a facility to help him deal with his anger issues and “special needs.”

“Collin has special needs,” Kate told People in 2016. “[There’s] a fairly fluid diagnosis of what those needs are, but he needs to learn certain strategies to help him deal with things. This has been a struggle we’ve had for a very long time, and it’s one I’ve dealt with on my own.”

However, Jon has disputed Collin’s “special needs.” And in 2018, he went for full custody of Collin, which he was able to obtain after Kate failed to show up to court. Jon also wanted Collin to go to a regular school like Hannah instead of another facility.

Collin alleged that Jon was physically abusive toward him

While Jon, Collin, and Hannah look like a happy family on Instagram, there may be more to the story. According to People, Collin took to his Instagram to state Jon was physically abusive toward him.

“My dad is a liar,” People reports Collin’s now-deleted post read. “Yesterday he beat me up and thought nothing of it, he punched me in the face and gave me a swollen nose and I started bleeding. He then continued to kick me in the ribs after I was on the floor. He is a liar.”

According to a source, the incident began when Collin and Jon got into a fight in Jon’s car. “Collin got furious and was screaming and swearing. When they got home, he was still screaming and cursing and he went into the garage and got … a big heavy bottle of liquid — and hurled it at Jon’s car, denting it,” the source told the publication. They then added that Jon put Collin in a “headlock” and proceeded to harm him.

The County of Berks, Pennsylvania Child & Youth Services was also called over the incident. They have not named Jon as the alleged perpetrator.

Will Kate Gosselin step in?

Kate has since spoken out to People regarding the incident. “You do not kick a child,” she stated. I don’t want to hear any excuses from anyone, not from his father, not from local law enforcement, not from court personnel whose job is supposedly to ensure the best interests of my children.” She then added that she doesn’t want any of her kids around Jon.

So, does this mean Kate will go for custody of Collin once again? We’re not sure, but it’s possible. While Kate missed the hearing for Collin back in 2018, it seemed she did plan on attending and wanted the court hearing to be postponed to a later date. Then, the request for postponement was denied, resulting in her not showing up.

So far, fans have mixed feelings regarding Kate getting involved in the current situaton.

“Sweetie, you shipped Collin off and wrote him off,” one of Kate’s Instagram followers wrote. “His Dad took him in and loved him. Kids act out and lie. Let’s not convict Jon without all the facts.”

“Why are you so outraged when you abused him for so long and left him locked up for years without seeing him,” another wrote. “Oh the hypocrisy.”

Perhaps Kate will take over custody of Collin, or perhaps more is going on than initially meets the eye. We’ll have to wait for updates.
