Much like all other royal baby topics, everyone is fascinated by Meghan Markle’s birth plan and how it might differ from her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton’s. Some have even suggested the Duchess of Sussex might opt out of the traditional St Mary’s Hospital Lindo Wing birth experience for something a little more in line with her holistic habits — and closer to her and Prince Harry’s new home, Frogmore Cottage. One rumor suggests the duchess might give birth at the Mulberry Birth Centre at Frimley Park.
Meghan Markle’s birth plan
According to reports by The Sun, Meghan Markle might consider the Mulberry Birth Centre as part of her birth plan. Albeit just rumors, the possibilities aren’t all that far-fetched, given the Frimley Park facility is only 15 miles away from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new home on Windsor Estate.
While it does go against the royal family’s modern tradition of welcoming a royal baby at St Mary’s Hospital, the Duchess of Sussex wouldn’t be the first royal woman to welcome her baby at the birth center. Sophie, Countess of Wessex gave birth to her daughter, Louise there.
That said, her alleged reasons for wanting to deliver her firstborn at Mulberry Birth Centre seem a bit off. According to The Sun, a royal insider said her reasons for opting out of a St Mary’s Hospital birth are because she “doesn’t want to do anything that Kate Middleton has.” Additionally, she allegedly likes the center’s “homely environment” and “birth without medical intervention” approach.

Will Meghan Markle give birth at Mulberry Birth Centre?
Will Meghan Markle welcome Baby Sussex at the Mulberry Birth Centre? It’s possible — but our guess is probably not. If the Duchess of Sussex has proved anything in her pregnancy, it’s just how “Hollywood” she really is. From her $200,000 New York City baby shower to her designer maternity wardrobe — which is worth over half a million dollars — one could argue that Meghan Markle is a bit more boujee compared to her sister-in-law.
While the Mulberry Birth Centre offers vegan menu options, aromatherapy, mood-changing lights, a pool, and support hypnobirthing techniques — which Kate Middleton used and Meghan Markle is allegedly considering — it’s not as luxurious as the Lindo Wing, which costs just under $10,000 per overnight stay.
Additionally, St Mary’s Hospital has experience with more high-profile royal births, which could be key for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. It’s also where Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William were born and the royal family (rule-breaking Harry included) loves a tradition.

Some believe the Duchess of Sussex might opt for an American run facility, such as The Portland Hospital in London. “Meghan is likely to buck all traditions when it comes to having the baby, just watch where it is born,” royal commentator and former butler, Paul Burrell revealed. “I don’t think she will use the Lindo Wing, I think she will use an American hospital like The Portland, which is own by the Hospital Corporation Of America,” he added.
These reports contradict others that suggest the Lindo Wing staff were told not to take vacation in April, which is the month of Meghan Markle’s due date. “Everyone thinks it’s got something to do with the royal baby, but no one is confirming anything,” a source told The Telegraph.
