“I didn’t want them to leak it to the press,” Jenner reveals in new interview with Piers Morgan.
There’s one simple reason why the Kardashians found out about Caitlyn Jenner’s gender confirmation surgery when everyone else did: she didn’t trust them.
Up until last year, Kim was the only Kardashian sister who had not completely severed ties with Caitlyn, but that all changed after she found out Caitlyn had supplied her with preview copy of her autobiography which omitted a few key chapters.
Jenner opened up about her decision to keep a few secrets from the reality TV family in an interview with Piers Morgan, saying that she didn’t tell them before telling the world because she thought they could run to the press.
"They didn’t know you had actually had the surgery?" Morgan asked. "No, I didn’t tell anybody," Jenner said. "Why? It’s none of their business."
"Is it not the business of your very, very recently ex-wife, your kids? Are they not entitled to know before the world?" Morgan asked. "No, it’s not that big a deal," Jenner said.
"You’re about to tell the entire world in a book," Morgan said, to which Jenner replied, "I had to be honest. The book is about honesty."
"You’re being honest to complete strangers who are gonna buy your book, but you’re not being honest to the people that you purported to love most," Morgan pressed. "Are they not entitled to feel pretty pissed off?"
"Uh, no because it really wasn’t that big a deal," Caitlyn said, getting annoyed. "I had already been living as Caitlyn for a year and a half, OK? Nobody knows anything, OK?"
Morgan continued his line of questioning until Jenner finally reveled she "didn’t want them to leak it to the press."
"You didn’t trust them?" Morgan asked. "Of course not," Jenner scoffed.
When Morgan asked Jenner if she had indeed given Kim an abridged version of her memoir, Jenner said, "No." "So you sent her the entire book?" Morgan asked. "Except for the last few pages when I talked about gender confirmation," Jenner said.
Jenner also admitted she doesn’t "talk to the Kardashians anymore."
"The only ones I am concerned about are Kendall and Kylie," she revealed. "They are my biological kids. I spent 23 years carting them around."
