How does the Strictly Come Dancing vote work?

The hit BBC show is usually on Saturday and Sunday nights on BBC One.

Yet filming is completed on Saturday – leaving contestants with the task of keeping schtum on the result for 24 hours.

The scoring system combines judges and viewer votes. No couple is guaranteed to be safe on judges' votes alone, however, and the viewers' votes can always influence the outcome.

This means that each week any couple can face or be saved from the dance-off with the public vote – and keeps things exciting!

For the grand final, the show follows a slightly different format – with the entire show taking place on a special extended Saturday episode, lasting two-and-a-half hours.
