Who plays Camilla Parker Bowles in The Crown?

Emerald Fennell played the much maligned figure of Camilla, an aristocrat who had a long-standing affair with Prince Charles while he was married to Princess Diana.

Charles and Camilla eventually married in 2005, years after Diana was killed in a car crash in 1997.

Emerald took on the role in season three and four of the hit drama.

When she bagged the role, Fennell said that she was “absolutely over the moon, and completely terrified, to be joining so many hugely talented people on The Crown.

She said: "I absolutely love Camilla, and am very grateful that my teenage years have well prepared me for playing a chain-smoking serial snogger with a pudding-bowl haircut.”

Olivia Williams is reportedly set to take on the role of Camilla in seasons five and six of The Crown.

The fourth season of the Crown covered the time period between 1979 and 1990.

So, the next season of The Crown is expected to include the breakdown of Charles and Diana's union, as well as Diana's famous 1995 Panorama interview with the disgraced Martin Bashir.

However, the next installment won’t premiere until 2022.

Season three explores the early days in Charles' relationship with Camilla Parker Bowles.

The love triangle between Charles, Camilla and her eventual first husband Andrew Parker Bowles is made clear.

But Charles is unable to commit to Camilla, and he tells her as much.

He tells his future wife that his life is “not so much an existence as a predicament”

Talking about the Queen, he tells Camilla: “Until she dies I cannot be fully alive.”

Princess Anne also has an affair with Andrew Parker-Bowles in the meantime.

Camilla's lunch meeting with Diana

Diana Spencer is about to about to marry Charles, but is lonely and isolated after moving into the palace.

Charles, who is frequent absent on trips abroad, tells Diana she should reach out to Camilla Parker-Bowles, the ex-girlfriend he's still in love with.

Camilla takes Diana out for lunch, and under the pretence of friendship, undermines her by stressing how well she knows Charles.

Camilla tells Charles to 'be realistic'

Charles visits Camilla to ask about her marriage to Andrew.

Although Camilla admits that she feels more strongly towards Charles, but tells him they need to remain "realistic".

“It’s important we remain realistic.”
