Who is Spike in Coronation Street, who plays him and is he Gemma Winter's boyfriend?

Here's everything you need to know about him…

Who is Spike in Coronation Street?

Spike is an old friend of Gemma Winter and arrived in Weatherfield on October 24, 2018.

He was used to make her love interest Chesney Brown jealous as Gemma thought he was dating Emma Brooker.

He works as a tattoo artist and enjoys telling stories about the most ridiculous tattoos he’s ever done.

He revealed he met Gemma when she tried to get a tattoo of Peter Andre done while she was underage.

Spike is a bit of a free spirit and doesn’t believe in relationships.

That didn’t stop him heading back to Rita Tanner’s flat for an evening of passion with Gemma, leaving poor Ches feeling very awkward indeed.

Who plays Spike in Coronation Street?

Spike is played by British actor Joel Morris.

He was recently seen in Emmerdale in April 2018 where he played Steve, the teacher at the juvenile detention centre Liv Flaherty was sent to after spiking Lisa Dingle’s drink.

He’s also starred in Corrie before, but only a small role credited just as ‘punter’ back in 2012.

Ryan Connor – then played by Sol Heras – got into a scuffle with his character while high on drugs on a night out.

Joel has appeared on other TV shows including Stew & Punch and Houdini & Doyle.
He also starred in 2017’s Call the Midwife Christmas special.
