Who is Faye Tozer? What was her early life?

Faye, 43 was born on November 14, 1975, and grew up in Dunstable.

She is an English singer-songwriter, dancer and stage actress, and known for being one-fifth of Steps.

Faye trained at the Anne Gale School of Dance where she achieved qualifications in dance, including ballet, tap and modern.

After her A-levels she began dancing professionally with the Belinda King Dancers for two years and sang at the Hilton Hotel Park Lane London until joining Steps.

When did Faye join Strictly Come Dancing?

Faye was officially unveiled as a Strictly star on The One Show on August 13, 2018, alongside Danny John-Jules.

As the show got ready to air, Faye told the BBC: “I can’t wait to get in the costumes.

“The swishy skirts and fabulous fringing encrusted with crystals… It’s a big yes from me!”

She is currently storming ahead in the show and is partnered with professional partner Giovanni Pernice.

When did Faye join Steps?

Faye became part of the band Steps in 1997.

Steps are a British dance-pop group consisting of Claire Richards, Faye Tozer, Lisa Scott-Lee, Ian “H” Watkins and Lee Latchford-Evans.

They were formed in May 1997  and released four albums and seventeen singles.

The group has sold over 20 million records worldwide.

Fans hearts were left broken when they broke up on Boxing Day in 2001, after Lee and H left the band.

Steps got back together in May 2011 for a four-part documentary series on Sky Living titled Steps: Reunion.

The series started airing on 28 September, following an announcement of a second Greatest Hits album, The Ultimate Collection, that was released on October 10, 2011.

The album entered the charts at number 1, becoming the band’s third UK number 1 album.

Series 2 of Steps Reunion titled Steps: On the Road Again aired on Sky Living in April 2012 and the series followed the band as they embarked on their sellout 22-date UK tour.

On September 24, 2012, the group confirmed they would release their fourth studio album Light Up The World on November 12, 2012, alongside a six-date Christmas tour.

They are now back with a brand new album, Number One single and are heading out on tour.

In 2002 Faye recorded a duet with opera singer Russell Watson.

Their song Someone Like You was a Top Ten hit.

This led to an Arena Tour in the UK and New Zealand where she sang to an audience of over 140,000.

In 2004 Faye made her debut musical theatre tour in Tell Me On A Sunday.

In 2005 she then toured with the hit show Love Shack playing the leading role of Bonnie.

She then went on to star in the West End in Saucy Jack and The Space Vixens, playing the leading role of Jubilee Climax.

Faye’s recent theatre work includes: Sally in Me and My Girl, Sheila Wendice in Dial M for Murder, Eva Cassidy in Over The Rainbow, In the Spotlight and Rhinestone Mondays as Annie.

In 2002, Faye married her long-time Danish boyfriend Jesper Irn at the Priory Church in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, but they divorced after five years.

On February 24, 2009, she gave birth to her first child, named Benjamin Barrington Tozer-Smith.

On December 5, 2009, Tozer married businessman Michael Smith in a ceremony at Beamish Hall which was televised on an episode of Celebrity Four Weddings.
