Networks like Bravo and MTV are taking racist actions by their reality personalities seriously as a string of well-known names were recently fired.
The numbers grew by the day as networks announced, almost daily, that a new cast member has been fired. Peter Hunziker from Below Deck Mediterranean was a new cast member and only completed three episodes when he was fired.
Peter Hunziker was fired after the network was alerted to a violent and racist meme he recently shared on social media. Bravo fired him immediately and shared that they planned to edit his image and character from the show for the remainder of the season.
Bravo fires 4 from ‘Vanderpump Rules’
Thus far, four cast members were fired from Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules. Two original cast members and two new additions were cut for racism. The original cast members, Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute were fired for calling the police on former cast member Faith Stowers. Doute and Schroeder reported Stowers to the police in 2018 for a crime she did not commit. Stowers discussed the incident on a recent Instagram Live and Doute and Schroeder were subsequently fired.

Also fired were newcomers Max Boyens and Brett Caprioni. Their racist tweets were discovered early in the season. But the two were not dismissed until recently. Boss Lisa Vanderpump released a statement condemning the fired cast members’ actions. But she also offered words of support. Her message was met with a mixed reaction.
MTV lowered the boom on several cast members and shows
Dee Nguyen from MTV’s The Challenge was fired for racist tweets. “As a result of Dee Nguyen’s offensive comments on the Black Lives Matter movement, we have severed ties with her,” The Challenge tweeted in early June. “Out of respect for our Challengers, we’ll air our season as planned. We strongly condemn systemic racism and stand with those raising their voices against injustice.”
MTV also fired Alex Kompothecras from Siesta Key. Kompothecras made racist slurs on Instagram and laughed at racist posts. “We’ve made the decision to cut ties with Alex and are editing the current season to minimize his presence,” MTV shared in a statement to US Weekly. “He will not be in future seasons of Siesta Key.”

Taylor Selfridge from Teen Mom lost her spin-off, Teen Mom OG at Home: Cory & Taylor’s Baby Special due to racist tweets, The New York Post reports.
Lifetime and The Food Network acted early
The Food Network cut ties with Paula Deen in 2013, US Weekly reports. Deen was being sued by a former employee for using a racial slur. Her actions cost her endorsement deals with Walmart, JCPenney, Target, and Home Depot. She had three shows on The Food Network at the time.

Also fired for racist comments was Abby Lee Miller from Lifetime’s Dance Moms. She was about to stage a comeback but the mother of one of the young dancers said Miller made racist comments to her daughter. Miller allegedly apologized but the apology was not accepted. And her new show was not picked up. “At this time, I do not accept Abby’s apology because her apology was not sincere. My daughter and I have yet to hear directly from Abby Lee Miller. Moreover, she didn’t even bother to tag me or Kamryn in her post,” mother Adriana Smith shared on Instagram.
