Such was the success of the recent Christmas specials, BBC bosses have split the sitcom into two parts but when is the New Year special on and who is appearing? Here's the lowdown…

When is the Mrs Brown's Boys Christmas special on?

The second part of Mrs Brown's Boys festive special will air on New Years Day, Tuesday, January 1, 2019.

You can catch it on BBC One at 10.00pm.

Brendan O'Carroll previously told The Mirror that the BBC have ordered Christmas specials of the show up until 2020.

He will also be hosting the third series of the chat show All Round to Mrs Brown's in 2019.

What is the Mrs Brown's Boys Christmas special about?

The festive season arrives once again in the Brown household, and Father Damian has organised a Christmas decoration contest to support the local football team.

Agnes is keen to enter, especially as it might mean getting one over her old nemesis, Hillary Nicholson, but is soon distracted by her new `wi-fi assistant' and quite what to do with it.

In the second instalment of the Christmas Special, called Mammy’s Motel, Winnie and Sharon are forced to move in with Agnes after pipes in their house burst.

Agnes is asked to deliver a eulogy for a neighbour but will she also be able to cope with a house full of guests? More than likely not…
