This London crime drama, the outcome of bringing The Bridge creator Hans Rosenfeldt to Britain, has myriad murders and a surplus of suspects. But what differentiates it from a crowded field is that among the investigating police detectives, Marcella Backland (Anna Friel), doesn't know whether she's responsible for one of the heinous crimes.
Just abandoned by her husband of 15 years, Marcella is a good detective with flawed motivations and a stressful temper so furious she has blackouts. It's an insidious, captivating position, clouding motives and the drive to bring justice, and it keeps the storylines humming with potential. CM
