What happens in Coronation Street tonight?
After spending the year trying to reconnect, tonight’s Coronation Street focuses a lot on David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) and Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding).
David and Shona had a heart to heart recently, but it left Shona confused which gave David the impression she didn’t want to be with him. Fighting back the tears, David told Shona it was time to accept their marriage is no longer working.
Yes, it’s Christmas, but it’s also David’s birthday today! As Max (Harry McDermott) and Lily (Brooke Malonie) excitedly rip open their presents, Shona gives David a six-foot cuddly rabbit to replace Barney – his childhood pet. David absolutely loves it.
But when Lily gets a jewellery bead stuck up her nose, David and Shona reluctantly set off for A&E. While the nurse sees to Lily, Shona calms her down and makes her laugh, causing David to watch with a heavy heart realising how much the kids will miss her.
Having returned to the street, David and Shona approach Jenny’s (Sally Ann Matthews) drinks stall. But once Shona spots Daisy (Charlotte Jordan) being flirtatious with David, she loses it and storms off.
David finds Shona in Victoria Garden and they finally clear the air. After admitting that they still love each other, David forms a plan. At No.8, David and Shona, with the help of Max and Lily, re-enact their wedding day. As the Platts leave No.8, the snow begins to fall, and Shona stares up in wonderment. David gazes at his wife, his love for her renewed.
Brighter times are on the horizon for David and Shona, and elsewhere, after a sleepless night with baby Mason, new foster parents Toyah (Georgia Taylor) and Imran (Charlie De Melo) share a smile, happy but slightly out of their depth. Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) calls at the builder’s yard flat and gives Toyah and Imran some parenting tips, making Toyah realise they’ve got a lot to learn.
After leaving a message explaining she’s spending Christmas with her Mum in France, Leanne (Jane Danson) continues to ignore Toyah’s messages, hiding away in her flat and consumed with grief. Will anyone realise Leanne will be spending Christmas alone?
It’s going to be another memorable Christmas Day in Weatherfield!
