Season Four of Love Island has already introduced us to a whole new vocabulary, from “dead ting” to “the Eagle”.
Now, dumped Islanders Anna Vakili and Jordan Hames have introduced some new lingo into the mix, by using the word “westing”.
Inspired by Kanye West, the term means to always bring all of the attention back on yourself, regardless of the situation.
The word was inspired by the rapper’s massive ego, and his tendency to speak very highly of himself in interviews.
In their head-to-head on Wednesday night’s episode, Anna asked Jordan why he had tried to crack on with India, even though he already had a girlfriend.
Trying to make amends, the 24-year-old male model said: “I want to apologise for what happened last night.”
But Anna was having none of it, and immediately blasted him for his behaviour, saying: “You shouldn’t have f***** lied to me for the past few weeks.”
Getting angrier by the second, the 29-year-old beauty mimicked the proposal he made when he asked her to be his girlfriend.
Jordan responded: “Why are you speaking like that? You’re westing me out.”
Snapping back, she replied: “Everything’s westing you out, right? Do you know what the westest thing is?”
Even though they were caught up in the drama unfolding on their screens, certain viewers were left wondering what it means to “west” someone out.
Taking to Twitter, one said: “What does ‘west’ mean? ‘Westing me out?’
And a second added: “Is Anna speaking English? What on earth is ‘Westing you out?’”
While a third remarked: “The word ‘westing’ or ‘wester’ was heard on Love Island… can someone confirm the meaning of this word? Asking for a friend…”
Luckily, now that fans’ questions have been answered, they can get back to focusing on the drama in the villa as the series final looms closer than ever.
