Watch Star Wars' first-look teaser for Darth Vader-themed VR series

Can you feel that, Star Wars fans? We’re in the presence of pure evil.

Perhaps the most deadly of all Sith Lords is back in a big way and VR headset owners should be very excited.

Initially teased earlier in the week, Vader Immortal: A Star Wars Series – Episode I has been announced for release in 2019, developed by Oculus Studios.

The new series from ILMxLAB Immersive Entertainment takes place between the events of Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One, and dropped its first teaser trailer today (September 26).

The clip begins with a worried voice speaking over intercom: “There’s something wrong, Captain. I need you in the cockpit now.”

“That’s impossible, something’s pulled us out of hyperspace,” the female soldier adds before the imposing figure of Darth Vader emerges on screen, peering at you through his dark visor.

“You may wonder why I have brought you here,” he breathes ominously.

And that’s all she wrote — the teaser cuts to credits with the message that Vader Immortal will debut in 2019 on the Oculus Quest (out spring 2019).

In a statement aired on regular web series The Star Wars Show, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said: “We always look for opportunities to explore the Star Wars universe in new ways.

“ILMxLAB is very excited to be working with David S. Goyer on a first-of-its-kind Star Wars experience which allows fans to travel to Darth Vader’s fiery, lava-ridden fortress and wield a lightsaber on his home turf.”

So if you fancy battling it out with the galaxy’s most dangerous Sith Lord, get yourself on the pre-order list when you can.

May the force be with you.
