Vera cast: Who stars in series 11 of the ITV drama? – The Sun

CLASSIC crime series Vera is back for an 11th series on ITV.

The un-conventional detective is set to return to our screens from August 29, 2021, with two feature length episodes scheduled for 2021.

Brenda Blethyn as DCI Vera Stanhope

Brenda Anne Blethyn, OBE plays DCI Vera Stanhope.

DCI Vera Stanhope is a talented, compassionate and unconventional detective who heads up a team at Northumberland and City Police.

She is very blunt, to the point and will do whatever it takes to get to the bottom of a case.

In 1980, Brenda made her television debut in Mike Leigh's film Grown-Ups.

She's since starred in The Witches, Secrets & Lies, Pride & Prejudice and Saving Grace.

Kenny Doughty as DS Aiden Healy

Kenny Doughty plays DS Aiden Healy in the series.

He is Vera's second-in-command and over the course of the program has proved his loyalty and just how hard-working he can be.

As a parent, he does often struggle to contain himself when he deals with cases involving parents and children.

Kenny has starred in many other popular shows including New Tricks, Coronation Street and Wire in the Blood.

Jon Morrison as DC Kenny Lockhart

Jon Morrison appears as Detective Constable Kenny Lockhart.

A loyal detective with decades of experience under his belt, and the cynical sense of humour to prove it.

He's a Scottish actor best known for his roles in Just Another Saturday, The Elephants' Graveyard and Gary Oldman's Nil by Mouth.

He has previously starred in The Bill, Monarch of the Glen, High Times, Dream Team, and Who Dares Wins.

Riley Jones as PC Mark Edwards

Riley Jones plays DC Mark Edwards.

As Vera's youngest team member, Jones is very hard-working and is keen to prove he has what it takes to be in the force.

As well as Vera, he is also known for his roles in Run and Wolfblood.

Edwards has also made cameo appearances in EastEnders as Lola Pearce's fiancee.

Ibinabo Jack as DC Jacqueline ‘Jac’ Williams

Ibinano Jack plays DC Jacqueline Williams in Vera.

Her character is a young and talented detective with a wry sense of humour and a knack at finding key witnesses and crucial information essential to solving cases.

DC Jacqueline is valuable asset to Vera's squad.

She is a theatre actress who was born in November 1982.

Paul Kaye as Dr Malcolm Donahue

Paul Kaye joined the team in series nine of the crime drama.

Paul plays a very precise pathologist who has worked with Vera in the past, but the two were unable to get along.

However, the pair seem to have put their differences aside and are now finally establishing a grudging respect for one another.

Paul Kaye is a comedian and actor best known for playing Dennis Pennis, a shock celebrity interviewer.

He has also starred in Three Girls, Game of Thrones and The Windsors.

Lorraine Ashbourne as Barbara Tullman

Bills and Boon actress Lorraine Ashbourne is joining the series as the estranged wife of murder victim Jim Tullman.

The first episode of series 11 will explore the brutal slaying of Barbara's husband, who is found dead on the steps of the Collingwood Monument in Tynemouth shortly before he was set to testify as a key witness at trial.

Lorraine has also appeared in Casualty, The Crown and Bridgerton.

Sophie Stanton as Andrea Hynde

Sophie Stanton is joining the cast as Andrew Hynde, the protective mother of Marcus Hynde, a man accused of grievous bodily harm.

Andrea is keen to fight for her son's innocence.

Sophie Stanton is a veteran EastEnders star, having appeared as DCI Jill Marsden on and off since 2001.
