TV star looks unrecognisable in smouldering pics from glam photoshoot 30 years ago | The Sun

A BELOVED BBC star looks unrecognisable in glamorous photoshoot pictures taken from 30 years ago.

The photos were taken when Happy Valley star Sarah Lancashire was in her late 20s before her acting career took off.

Sarah starred as the tough Sergeant Catherine Cawood in the gritty crime-drama Happy Valley, which won best-returning drama at the NTA awards last night.

The stone-cold police Seargant was responsible for her grandson after his mother committed suicide.

Her character on the show was portrayed as a struggling and over-stretched police officer who was constantly trying to get a grip on her stressful personal and challenging work life.

Fans of the show were devastated when the popular BBC series ended on February 5 2023, after 9 successful years.

The award-winning actress was commended for playing her role in the drama and won several awards for it, including her recent NTA honours presented to her by Sir Ian McKellen for best drama performance and this year's special recognition award.

Throwback heart-stopping photoshoot pictures of the star back in 1994 when she was in her late 20s have resurfaced.

Whilst channelling her inner model and completely separating herself from her troubled TV character, Sarah wore a selection of stunning outfits as she posed for the camera.

She hypnotically looks at the camera in one picture with her deep blue eyes while sporting a dark green velvet gown with black embroidered arms as she lies against a chair.

In another stunning picture, Sarah props her hand to her side while looking sideways, wearing a sophisticated black suit with her hair swooped to the back in a classic updo.

A third snap saw the star with a face full of dramatic makeup staring at the camera whilst laying down in a long dark green dress.

Sarah toned down the heat a little bit with the fourth picture as she sat down on a stall, glaring with her sharp red lipstick at the camera while wearing a gold pair of three-quarter length pants with a light pink jumper.

Sarah began her acting career on the ITV soap Coronation Street in 1987, with her Character Wendy only being featured once, but later starred in over 500 episodes playing Raquel Watts, and since then, she has become a household name on British TV.

The 58-year-old moved on to work on more significant TV projects, including Dramarama, Watching, About Face, and most recently, she played Julia Child in Julia.

Hollywood celebrities have praised Sarah's performance in Happy Valley, with Jamie Lee Curtis reaching out to the star to give her flowers.

After bingeing on the crime series, the 64-year-old became a fan of the star and took to Twitter to praise the show's creator, Sally Wainwright and the lead actress.

The Oscar-winner tweeted: "Just finished @happyvalleybbc THANK YOU @SarahLancsUK @sallywainwrigh8 for a gorgeous portrait of an amazing woman."

Happy Valley is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
