To All The Boys Ive Loved Before Facts, Info About Netflix Movie

Netflix

Netflix’s new movie, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, is a certified hit. What’s not to love about it? For starters, it has an amazing cast. Lana Condor as Lara Jean Covey is *chef’s kiss*. And don’t even get us started on Noah Centineo as Peter Kavinsky. Step aside, Zac Efron, because there’s a new teenage heartthrob in town! Now if only we could get the 22-year-old to star in the upcoming High School Musical series…

Anyway! As you can tell, we are obsessed with this movie, as it’s the perfect teenage rom-com. Since the film was released, we’ve been researching nonstop to get all the inside tea on To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. For all of you asking Google how old Noah is, he’s 22, FYI. So what are the other hidden facts that we’ve uncovered? Here are 10 of them that will leave you shooketh.

It’s based on a book.

Ok, so you might know this one, but we thought we’d start it off here for the locals. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before is actually based on a book of the same name. It’s written by Jenny Han and was released back in April of 2014. The novel was a big success (obviously) and loved by many, which is why it makes sense they’d want to turn it into a film.

There are two sequels to the book.

If you’re dying for a sequel to the film, you may just be in luck! While we have no confirmation from Netflix about it, Jenny wrote two sequels to To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. They’re called P.S. I Still Love You and Always and Forever, Lara Jean. Um, we are 1000% here for two more movies! Please make this happen, Netflix. Here’s some tea: There may be a hint at a sequel in the flick. More on that in the next slide.

The boy who shows up at the end is important.

Remember the end of TATBILB when a boy shows up at Lara Jean’s doorstep? Okay, well that boy is named John Ambrose and he’s very important. In the second book of the trilogy, he is the person who received a letter from LJ and comes to look for her years later. So, could Netflix already be planning a sequel? It sure seems like it, as this is basically the perfect setup.

Kitty once had a different reason for sending her sister’s love letters.

Ah, the moment that shook the earth: When Kitty sends out Lara Jean’s love letters! We were literally cringing so hard when this happened. Although in the movie she does this because she wants her sister to finally get a boyfriend, the reasoning is different in the book. Originally, Kitty sends out the letters because she’s mad at Lara Jean.

Why? Well in the novel, Kitty actually liked Josh and one night when he came over Lara Jean jokingly said her little sis should get a dog and name it Josh, after the boy she likes. And thus, she sends the letters out of spite.

Noah almost played a different role.

Hold onto your wigs because this fact is about to leave you shook. We legit can’t think of anyone else playing Peter than Noah, but he actually auditioned for the role of Josh!

Director Susan Johnson explained, “I initially was thinking of Noah for Josh, because I thought, ‘Oh, he seems like boy next door,’ but then once I saw Lana and Noah’s chemistry I knew we had to go that direction. Israel was great with Janel [Parrish]. I thought that fit really well.”

We totally agree!

Jenny Han fought to have an Asian-American lead.

Among the many reasons To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is such a success is the fact that it features an Asian-American actress in the lead role. This is such a big win for diversity and we’re so glad Lana was cast. But author Jenny Han had to fight hard for this to happen.

Although other studios wanted to turn the novel into a movie, they weren’t willing to cast a not-white actress as Lara Jean, so she turned them down. Jenny told People, “It was a difficult position. You have to say no again and again.”

Whitewashing is a huge issue in Hollywood and we’re SO glad Netflix didn’t let it happen here.

Peter didn’t originally drive a Jeep.

In the movie, Peter drives Lara Jean around in his infamous black jeep. But it’s not that way in the book! Nope, in the novel, he actually drives an Audi. Either way, a boy who picks you up everyday for school is a keeper, no matter the type car he drives.

The story behind Lara Jean’s lock screen is SO cute.

Remember Lara Jean’s super-cute lock screen of her and Peter? Well, here’s the tea: The picture wasn’t taken for the movie. No, it was actually captured by someone on set when Lana and Noah were just chilling in between takes.

Director Susan Johnson explained, “The two of them were in the green room on set at the high school location, in the area where we put the actors. They actually were sleeping on the couch in that room like that, so we just stood over them and took that picture and it’s so friggin’ cute. So yeah, we just borrowed it from our crew member.”

WE’RE SCREAMING!!
