The hit NBC show This Is Us explores the story of the Pearson family over several decades. After a long break following season five due to the pandemic, fans are upset to hear they will have to wait a few more weeks for this season to continue after a pause.

This Is Us first aired in December 2016 and has since gained a cult following.

Following the lives of Jack Milo Ventimiglia and Rebecca Pearson (Mandy Moore) and their three kids, Kath (Chrissy Metz), Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Kevin (Justin Hartley), the show gives viewers an inside look at the trials and tribulations of family life.

The show’s non-linear timeline toys with viewers’ emotions as it jumps from happy to sad moments in a split second.

The midseason pause follows season six, episode five, titled Heart and Soul.

As always, the Pearson family are battling multiple family dramas at multiple times.

In the present, Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) learn that adopted daughter Dejay (Lyric Ross) plans on graduating early so that she can move to Massachusetts and live with her college boyfriend.

Uncle Nicky (Griffin Dunne) is also seen pursuing a new romantic interest.

Kevin (Justin Hartley) heads to Pennsylvania to see how the construction of his mother’s cabin is coming on.

The sudden stop in the latest instalment is partly brought on by the network’s coverage of the Winter Olympics needing more screen time.

This means that the sixth episode won’t air until later in February.

During the midseason cliffhanger episode, a past Rebecca (Mandy Moore) goes on her first date since the tragic loss of her husband Jack (Milo Ventimiglia)

Season six is the final outing for this hit show, leaving fans with mixed feelings.

@SandraKing16 said on Twitter: “Such an amazing show! So well done! Will be sorry to see this family go.”

“I don’t think I’m ready to say goodbye to you all just yet,” @hayleyharding40 added.

@JANJONES7 commented: “Are you sure you can’t stay on a few more years? I don’t want this show to end.”

A big plot twist came in a future family scene where viewers saw that Kate was no longer married to Toby (Chris Sullivan) and was about to marry her moany British co-worker Phillip (Chris Geere)

Madison (Caitlin Thompson) pulled out of the wedding to Kevin moments before the ceremony began, and the pair are still trying to find a balance with co-parenting their twins.

Viewers are yet to find out how Jack and Rebecca’s grandchildren fare in the future, with their stories sure to unfold in future episodes.

On the end of the hit show series, creator Dan Fogelman previously told USA TODAY: “We always knew that Season 6 would be ambitious in terms of the way it jumps time, even more ambitious than other seasons.”

This Is Us Seasons 1-6 are currently available to watch in the UK on Amazon Prime. Episodes air in the UK after they do on NBC in the states.
