The X Factor's Simon Cowell gets his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Simon Cowell has been honoured with his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Los Angeles attraction houses the names of legendary figures from across the entertainment world, from the likes of Sir Alfred Hitchcock, Frank Sinatra and Ray Harryhausen, to Thomas Edison, Minnie Mouse and Lassie.

And yesterday (August 22), the X Factor boss joined them.

Some of Cowell’s current and former co-stars joined him to celebrate the 58-year-old’s achievement, including Britain’s Got Talent‘s Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon, America’s Got Talent‘s Mel B, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel, and new X Factor judge Louis Tomlinson.

Cowell’s partner Lauren Silverman and young son Eric were also in attendance.

Kelly Clarkson, who shot to fame after winning Cowell’s American Idol, shared a few words at the star unveiling.

“In this industry I think people always want you to fit in something, in some kind of category so they can sell it,” she explained.

“And I think his thing that he’s so talented at is just finding authentic people that have a raw talent and are really themselves and that’s all they really know how to be.”

Addressing the large crowd gathered to witness the event, Cowell added: “It’s been a blast, the last 18 years. Like I said, if anyone says, ‘Fame is a bad thing’, I don’t know what you’re talking about – it’s the best thing in the world!”

The X Factor returns to ITV on September 1.
