The Wheel of Time is set to drop later this year and promises to be an epic fantasy adventure. With the series’ release date just around the corner, Express.co.uk has brought together all the information on the new Amazon Prime show. But what is the release date for the show?

What is the release date of The Wheel of Time?

A specific release date has not been confirmed by Amazon Prime, but it will premiere in November of 2021.

The release date announcement was made on Twitter via the official The Wheel of Time Twitter account, with the account posting: “See you in November, Dragonsworm.”

With the post came the first official image of the series, which showed the lead character Moiraine Damodred standing in silhouette.

It hasn’t been confirmed if Amazon Prime will release the complete season all at once, or if they will stagger the release, similar to what it did with The Boys.

Who is in the cast of The Wheel of Time?

Rosamund Pike is leading the series as Moiraine, the heroine of the franchise.

The star’s involvement was one of the first details revealed about the show way back in June of 2019.

Pike also shared the first image on her Instagram, with the caption: “‘A little more light in the darkness,’ the Aes Sedai murmured. ‘How are your dreams?… A night like that can give a man bad dreams.’ The Wheel is turning from November on @amazonprimevideo.”

One fan replied: “I can’t wait to meet Moiraine! The letter M is your lucky charm.”

Joining her is Josha Stradowski as Rand al’Thor, Marcus Rutherford as Perrin Aybara, Zoe Robins as Nynaeve, and Sophie Okonedo as Siuan Sanche.

Finishing the main cast is Barney Harris as Mat Cauthon and Madeleine Madden as Egwene Al’Vere.

The show is being created by Rake Judkins, one of the lead producers on Agents of SHEILD and Hemlock Grove.

Amanda Kate Shuman is joining him in the writing room, best known for Chuck, The Blacklist, and Berlin Station.

Is there a trailer for The Wheel of Time?

No, Amazon Prime has not released a trailer yet for the upcoming show, despite fans pleading with them for one.

Currently, there is only the first official image for the show, but with a release date of November, a trailer shouldn’t be too much longer.

Commenting on the first image post on Twitter, one fan wrote: “Where is the trailer? The Witcher season 2 comes out a month later and already has one, so no excuses.” (sic)

However, most fans are simply sharing their excitement, with one posting: “Yesssss, it’s almost time to roll the dice!” (sic)

What is the plot of The Wheel of Time?

Based on the book series by the late Robert Jordan, The Wheel of Time is set in a high fantasy world where magic exists, but only some can access it, a woman named Moiraine crosses paths with five young men and women.

This sets in motion a journey that spans the globe and proves to be one of the most dangerous adventures any of the characters have faced.

There were six books in Jordan’s original series and have gone on to be some of the most popular fantasy novels of the last few decades.

Today there are 14 books, most of which have been completed by different authors to expand the universe which Jordan originally created.

The Wheel of Time premieres exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in November 2021.
