Exclusively reported by Deadline, Margot Bingham is set to join the cast of the post-apocalyptic epic in the next season.

Although her role on The Walking Dead has yet to be confirmed, fans of the franchise are all but certain she will be portraying the new love interest of survivor Eugene Porter (played by Josh McDermitt).

Bingham has voiced Stephanie in two episodes of season ten so far, Bonds and Morning Star.

In addition to her voice work in TWD and regular role on Spike Lee-inspired She’s Gotta Have It, Bingham is known for appearances on Boardwalk Empire, Blue Bloods and The Marvelous Mrs Maisel.

Stephanie has yet to be seen in person, but she has already made her presence known by connecting with Eugene via radio.

In Robert Kirkman’s original comic book series, Stephanie eventually becomes a love interest for Eugene.

As well as season ten’s introduction of Princess (Paola Lázaro), Eugene’s radio friendship with Stephanie kicks off Kirkman’s infamous Commonwealth arc.

The addition of a new cast member for season 11 will add another layer to Eugene, already one of TWD’s most complex characters.

He was initially introduced as an antagonist in season four, and joins forces with Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) as a high-ranking member of the Saviours.

Eugene eventually reforms, but remains somewhat of a voyeur, and develops unrequited feelings for his travelling companion Rosita (Christian Serratos).

Stephanie will most likely be introduced as a resident of Commonwealth, the biggest refuge for survivors seen in the series so far.

Showrunner Angela Kang has already teased the introduction of Commonwealth by confirming the new season will move to more urban environments.

In the original comic book series, Stephanie and Eugene begin a romantic relationship after they start fixing the city’s trains.

Major spoilers ahead – in later instalments of Kirkman’s series, she is confirmed to have died from unknown causes.

However, the television adaptation has already diverted and expanded on the series, so it is not yet certain if viewers will have to endure Stephanie’s death.

Meanwhile, fans are still waiting on the current season to conclude after episode 15, The Tower, aired April 5.
