BBC viewers saw Hollywood stars Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon appear on The One Show on Wednesday evening. The actresses were promoting the new season of The Morning Show which airs on Apple TV+. The duo were interviewed by hosts Zoe Ball and Jermaine Jenas, however, fans were quick to point out that their chat felt a little “awkward”.

Fans first hit out at Zoe for the unusual language she used to start off the interview.

The presenter began: “Welcome. Thank you both so much for choosing The One Show to give your first interview about the new series.

“You must be so psyched about season two,” Zoe exclaimed.

After a slight pause, Jennifer replied: “We’re very psyched about it. We’re also very psyched that it’s finally at the point where it’s going out there in the world.”

Viewers quickly took to Twitter to comment on Zoe’s use of the word “psyched”.

One fan wrote: “Zoe Ball (50) there. Asking Reese Witherspoon (45) if she was ‘psyched’ about her show. Not awkward. At all. #TheOneShow.”

Later on in the interview, Jermaine interrupted Jennifer with a question for Reese.

He said: “Reese I’ve got to be honest with you Jennifer’s pretty much sold it to me that she’s not a morning person.”

“Did I sell that to you?” Jennifer asked, with Jermaine replying: “A little bit, a little bit.”

“Did I get a good deal?” Jennifer replied, as Jermaine laughed and then continued questioning Reese.

Clearly wanting to move on from his awkward interaction with Jennifer, Jermaine said: “So what about you Reese?”

Reese replied: ”No, I’m definitely a morning person. Jen and I talk about this all the time. I’m the morning person and she’s more of a night person.

“So it actually works out because I do kind of the early morning scenes and then by four o’clock I’m toast.

“And then Jen starts around 11 and 12 and then she can do the night scenes because I can’t even think straight past 4pm,” the actress confessed.

Fans quickly took to Twitter to blast Jermaine for his interviewing techniques, pointing out the tension between him and Jennifer.

One viewer wrote: “Did anyone else catch Jennifer Anniston’s negative reaction to the male presenter regarding the morning person bit? Awkward #theoneshow.”

A second commented: “#jermainejenas on #TheOneShow is really awful very amateur and wooden and just awkward to listen to. The programme just does not work when he is on!”

“Jennifer Anniston’s ‘tude in this interview is cringe. She keeps on looking to the side awkward #theoneshow,” another remarked.

A fourth viewer added: “Jermaine dying on his arse trying to interview Jennifer Aniston #theoneshow.”

The One Show airs weekdays at 7 pm on BBC One.
