Following a lengthy hiatus and a number of issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the US Masked Singer has finally returned to screens. Fox’s cryptic talent show kicked off its fourth season last night, Wednesday 23, and fans are already convinced they know the identity of a major player.
One of the biggest TV competitions has finally returned to screens and fans couldn’t be more excited to meet a fresh batch of costumed celebs in The Masked Singer season four.
Following a special preview of what’s to come last week, Group A took to the stage to show off their vocal chops last night.
Among them was The Sun, who impressed the judges with a powerful rendition of Lizzo’s Cuz I Love You.
Meanwhile, the Dragon was revealed to be hip hop star Busta Rhymes, whose version of Mama Said Knock You Out by LL Cool J failed to exceed expectations.
Now the Sun’s safety has been secured for another week, fans have been looking through the clues to guess who this year’s brightest contender could be.
Singers have to have a strong vocal range to hold a note as long as Lizzo, so most fans agree the Sun definitely has some singing experience.
Under the Sun’s heavenly mask, the glittering contender is wearing a regal, gold dress, so viewers are on the lookout for a Queen of Pop who could fit the bill.
After going over the Sun’s clue video, some fans are convinced their real identity is none other than Christina Aguilera.
One fan shared the theory on Twitter and claimed: “Sun is most definitely highly probably Christina Aguilera.”
The tweet has already garnered hundreds of likes, so it seems to be a popular theory amongst perceptive fans of The Masked Singer.
Another fan chimed in with a run-down of clues that could have already exposed the pop legend before her unmasking.
They said: “Agreed. She [sung] a song on the Frozen II soundtrack, she sang Reflection on the Mulan soundtrack (sun dropped that clue about her reflection), and she wore tons of cheetah print back in the day.”

As well as contributing to this year’s remake of Disney classic Mulan, Christina previously covered the powerful ballad following the release of the original back in 1998.
Originally known for her wildly successful albums such as Stripped and Back to Basics, the singer went on to lend her voice to a number of animated films.
While she didn’t contribute to Frozen II’s official soundtrack, she recently appeared in Disney’s Family Singalong during the coronavirus pandemic.
In the Sun’s clue video, there are two potential references to Frozen, including: “This sun knows how to shine like a torch even during the freezing winter.”
Plus, the contestant name-dropped Christina’s version of Reflection when she took to the stage last night.
She said: “Well, when I put this mask on I felt like it was a reflection of who I am personally, and I like it.”
The Sun’s puzzling clue video also includes a nod to Mickey Mouse, so fans are keeping their eyes on recent Disney releases for clues.
