'The Mandalorian' Fans Spot a Goof in Season 2, Episode 4 — Reminding Viewers of the 'Game of Thrones' Coffee Cup

The Mandalorian premiered its much-anticipated season 2 on Disney+ on Nov. 12, 2020. While fans are thrilled to be back in the Star Wars universe, a recent episode took some viewers out the world with a barely-noticeable — but much-tweeted-about — goof.

Disney Plus viewers notice a tiny blooper in ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2, Episode 4

The 4th episode of The Mandalorian Season 2, “Chapter 12: The Siege,” premiered on Disney+ on Nov. 20, 2020.

But according to The Wrap, fans of the TV series spotted someone in the episode who didn’t exactly looked like they belonged.

About 18 minutes into the episode, “a crew member in a shirt and jeans can be spotted in one shot trying to hide behind Carl Weathers during a battle scene,” the publication confirmed.

The outfit — and the fact that the guy is halfway hidden behind the wall — is a dead giveaway that he’s not supposed to be in the shot. Exactly when and where in the episode can you find the not-so-hidden crew member?

“If you have Disney+, fast forward this week’s episode to around 18:54, as Mando opens fire alongside Greef Karga — played by Weathers — and Gina Carano’s Cara Dune,” The Wrap explained.

The fact that viewers even noticed, however, just goes to show how tuned in The Mandalorian fans really are. As the publication continued: “It’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it blooper, and the crew member is gone when the camera returns to the trio after a brief cutaway to the guards they are shooting at.” Given the dark lighting in the scene, it’s especially hard to spot the jeans-wearing man in the background.

But apparently, the fanbase is even more eagle-eyed than some of the higher-ups at Disney and/or Lucasfilm. Because, as The Wrap pointed out: “the shot in question was used as a promotion image by Disney+ for the episode.” Oops!

Twitter lit up with jokes about ‘Jeans Guy’, the crew member who made it in the new episode’s shot

Soon after the episode aired on Disney+, viewers began calling out the gaffe online.

On Twitter, Mandalorian fans lovingly dubbed the denim-wearing crew member “Jeans Guy,” or even the superior title of “Admiral Blue Jeans.”

One tweeter joked he was turning “Jeans Guy into an “action figure.” The post even included an image of the fake toy, which showed featured an arm and a leg of a guy standing behind a wall — just like the shot in the TV series.

“So who’s already planning to cosplay as Blue Jeans Guy from the Mandalorian at the next comic con?” another Twitter user wondered.

The Twitterverse also jumped on the opportunity to compare the blooper to the coffee cup that fans spotted in the last season of HBO’s Game of Thrones.

However, The Wrap argued that “Jeans Guy” was “not quite as egregious as the infamous shot … where a cup of coffee was left on a table next to Daenerys Targaryen.”

On the whole, it seems like The Mandalorian fanbase reacted to the mistake with humor. However, it will be interesting to see if Disney+ edits out the universe-bending goof — like HBO did with the infamous Game of Thrones coffee cup.
