As the end of season 3 draws near, fans of The Handmaid’s Tale still have a lot of unanswered questions. The most lingering one, of course, involves June’s fate. What will become of June (Elisabeth Moss) and the other handmaids stuck in sexual slavery in Gilead? Will they finally get the children of Gilead out and bring them to safety?
June probably won’t get out of Gilead this season
With only three episodes left and still so much left to do,it doesn’t look like June will see an end to her fight this season. The lastepisode showed June making great plans to get the children of Gilead out.She convinced Commander Lawrence to help her with this endeavor.
“I’ll get you a truck,” said Lawrence. “You get my wife out,safely.” June even lets him in on her plan to help get as many children out asshe can. This could help get Lawrence out as well, though he is still a warcriminal. “You just have to bring them something valuable. Kids. The stolenchildren of Gilead,” June tells him.

To the surprise of no one, The Handmaid’s Tale has been renewed for another season. The show is
June has a strong desire to get out of her chains and escapethe dystopian society she is forced to live in. The handmaids are sexual slavesforced to bear the children of Gilead. They have no other ties to this society.They are seen as objects with one purpose, to produce children for other couples.Forcibly raped constantly, these women have nothing else to do but resist andbreak free.
June has a new purpose after almost losing it completely
In previous episodes, viewers saw June starting to unravelin her mind. She was forced to stay in the hospital with OfMatthew while shewaited for the impending birth. The isolation and overall terrible situationwas almost too much for June to take. She was contemplating murder, as well assuicide.
June has already lost Hannah, and viewers don’t know if thefamily will ever reunite. No one seems to know where Hannah has gone, which is surelydevastatingfor June. She still has to find her daughter and get them both out.
Once June snaps out of it, she realizes her true purpose is toget out the innocent children stuck living in this terrible place. She willfight tooth and nail to overcome Gilead and the people keeping them all there. Shewill reunite with her husband and find safety, even if it kills her in theprocess.
‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ season 3 will end with a shocking cliffhanger
Warren Littlefield, the executive producer for TheHandmaid’s Tale, revealed at the Television Critics Association that thisseason will includea cliffhanger, which isn’t really that surprising, based off prior seasons.
“What we’re seeing is that June no longer considersherself an other,” Littlefield said. “She may still wear the robe ofa handmaid, but she’s asserting herself. What you’ll see between now and theend of the season is her being less obedient to authority, being moreassertive, and she co-opts Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford) into hervision and her plan and that’s just starting to unfold, but it’s a snowballrolling down a mountain. It’s just getting bigger and bigger and bigger, andshe’s going to be a force to be reckoned with. I think […] it’s a tippingpoint and a turning point in that relationship, and it’s unexpected. I’mexcited about what we’re about to present.”
Littlefield continued to explain the show’s upcomingcliffhanger. Fans will be left wondering what they will do with themselves, asin previous seasons. “I hope you’ll feel shocked at what we accomplish andwhere we leave our key characters,” Littlefield said. “I think it’squite a cliffhanger that we’ll leave you with. And I feel quite confident thatif we had a 40 percent leap from Year 2 to Year 3, I’m looking forward to whatthat leap will be in Year 4.”
The show is extremely popular with fans and has no plans onletting up any time soon. With three episodes left in the season, the show is gearingup for something that will leave audiences breathless.
