The Grand Tour shows why you should never trust Clarkson and May in an emergency

You got to give Jeremy Clarkson and James May credit for trying, but The Grand Tour’s latest episode proved why they probably aren’t the best to call in an emergency.

During the Mongolia episode of their tour around the world, the pair, as well as Richard Hammond, found themselves in trouble after their car landed smack bang in the middle of a body of water.

Unsure quite how to get out, they have to go diving to see what exactly it is that they’re missing.

Both heading underwater at the same time, James and Jeremy soon discover that the cars back wheels are both swarmed with rocks.

Richard decided to stay dry in the car, which was nice and breezy as far as jobs go, but cheered on a quite clearly miffed Jeremy, telling him: ‘You’ll have to be like titans. You’re always saying you’re a horse of a man. Be a horse – move the big rock.’

Trying to save their new motor, who they called John The Mountaineer, the group channeled the old adage of making sure no man gets left behind in their attempts to save him.

In fact, he did such a stellar job all things considered, fans are considering him a new favourite – which says a lot considering the swanky cars that are often shown on the programme!

‘John is the car we deserve,’ said one, backed up by another punter thinking of a new purchase, who asked: ‘Where did John come from (the truck in the Mongolia Special) So want one!’

Another added: ‘Mongolia Special: The best @JeremyClarkson, @RichardHammond, @MrJamesMay adventure of them all. John may well be the best car of them all too – he’s certainly the hardiest!’ said a third.

So will this be the last we see of John?

The Grand Tour continues Saturday on Amazon Prime Video.
