The Circle winner Alex reveals text he’s going to send Dan after tense meeting

The first season of The Circle came to an end with a dramatic final as catfish Alex finally got to meet his best pal Dan.

Dan fought to save Alex, who was using the fake name Kate, throughout the show when other contestants argued she was fake, getting him to the final and ensuring his place as winner of the £75,000 prize.

So he was understandably furious when he discovered the ‘woman’ he has been speaking with everyday for the past three weeks was actually a 26-year-old YouTuber from London.

He refused to shake his hand, saying "Don’t ‘mate’ me, this is just a f****** joke in it. Oh my days, oh my days."

After the information had sunk in he lightened up slightly, and the pair shared an awkward handshake.

But Alex is determined to get in touch with Dan, and has today told Mirror Online exactly what he wants to message the former estate agent.

He said: "I don’t even have his number, I just need to get him on some sort of social media.

"I just need to say ‘wow, how crazy was that’, and we’ll just discuss it all.

"He’s the reason I’m here and I’m in the position I am today. I owe him 100 times over for that."

During the three-week show it was clear to see how much Alex was struggling to lie to Dan, and admitting he almost revealed his secret more than once.

Dan asked outright if Kate/Alex was a catfish, and said he would be extremely upset if he lied – which he did.

He said: "I can completely see where he’s coming from and I get that

"I was questioning everyone along the way. I’m fake, so Dan could be as fake as me."

He believes he took away the public prize pot of £25,000 because people watched and could relate to his struggles.

Alex used photos of his stunning girlfriend Millie during his time in the competition, with aim of creating the "perfect popular person".

Alex said he decided to play a fake character to show just how dangerous and hurtful catfishing can be, which was clear to see when he finally met Dan face to face .

He broke down in tears after being named both the players and public winner – meaning he took whole the entire £75,000 prize.

The four finalists finally met face-to-face during the live final, and while Sian and Freddie got on brilliantly the same couldn’t be said for Dan and Alex.

He said: "I’m fuming. I sent people home, I blocked people because of you."

Alex replied: "The only thing I can say to you is, ‘I’m sorry mate, I’m sorry, Dan.’"

Alex tried his best to speak to Dan calmly, later explaining why he pretended to be someone he is not.

He said: "I’m not expecting anything from you, mate, I just wanted to voice it, look you in the eye and say, I’m sorry and that’s that, end of."

Dan replied, still angrily: "The overriding emotional feeling that I’m feeling right now is probably embarrassment.

"I’m very, very embarrassed. I feel like I’ve been taken for a fool, I feel like I’ve been mugged off and my journey’s been so much different to anyone else in here.

Kate/Alex then got Dan’s fire burning even more when he explained how he did it because he "wanted to win," for which Dan called him "muggy."

Dan said: "Muggy, mate, I swear to god, when I get out of here I’m logging out of the internet, mate. I’m pissed.

"I can just be angry at myself. I can’t f******… this is a joke, mate. I’m too trusting – the biggest dohnut."
