The Chase fans fume at ‘coward’ contestant over reason for taking low offer

The Chase viewers fumed at contestant Carl, as he accepted the lowest offer despite being first up to face the Chaser.

Carl won £5,000 in the cash building round, with Chaser Paul Sinha then offering a higher amount and then a lower amount of £1,000.

Viewers were left stunned though, as Carl opted for the £1,000 instead of the middle amount he had earned, fearing he wouldn’t make it back.

But it’s his reasons for going lower that left viewers fully raging, not accepting his excuse.

Carl claimed that he chose the amount based on the fact it wasn’t a minus amount.

The Chaser often offers a minus amount as their lower offer, which viewers are never happy with.

But the fact that Carl felt it was acceptable to take the grand because it was a plus amount, fans blasted him for letting the team down.

Taking to Twitter , viewers hit out and refused to accept his reasoning calling him a “coward”.

To make matters worse, the second, third and fourth contestants failed to make it back to the team, meaning the prize pot was very small.

One fan said: “Worst people on the planet? The ones who take the lower offer.”

Another agreed: “Nobody cares why you took the lower offer Carl. Stop trying to justify being a s**thouse!“

A third viewer said: “First contestant on The Chase took the lower offer of £1000, madness! Go hard or go home!”

This was echoed by another viewer who commented: “‘It wasn’t a minus offer’ THAT’S NOT THE F**KING POINT YOU SELFISH C***!”

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
