The Chase fans accuse the programme of ‘duping’ them as new chaser is a no-show

The Chase viewers were left unimpressed on Tuesday evening after tuning into the hit ITV show only to discover the hyped-up new mystery chaser was not on the show.

Fans of the hit series, presented by Bradley Walsh, had hoped to find out the identity of the quiz ace but sadly for them, Tuesday's episode saw The Dark Destroyer – Shaun Wallace – take to the podium.

The part-time university lecturer has been on the show since 2009.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: "So we wait another day for the new mysterious Chaser."

Another added: "Waiting for the new chaser to appear on #TheChase."

A third moaned: "Is there even a new chaser?? #suspicious #sickofwaiting #thechase."

A fourth hit out: "#TheChase Everyone's been sucked in… I'm guessing it'll be Friday when the new Chaser appears."

Earlier this year it was confirmed a sixth Chaser would join the daytime quiz show.

Currently, alongside Dark Destroyer Paul, the regular Chasers are Mark 'The Beast' Labbett, Anne 'The Governess' Hegerty, Jenny 'The Vixen' Ryan and Paul 'The Sinnerman' Sinha.

Darragh Ennis is set to be the new chaser after he opened up about the move on Twitter.

Darragh tweeted: "I'm really excited to be the 6th chaser on #TheChase.

"I've been working hard on this for a while now and can't wait for my episodes to air. Well the ones I win anyway."

Darragh appeared on the show as a contestant in 2017.

During his cash builder round, Paul bagged £9,000 to the total prize pot.

Confirming the claims were genuine, Chaser Paul Sinha replied: "The night before the producers told us, Anne and Mark and I sat at dinner and pondered 'Could it be a former contestant?'

"I said, 'If it is, the best player I faced was an Irish guy who looked a bit like Micky Flanagan'. Welcome to the club mate."
