Bradley Walsh was back presenting The Chase this evening with another host of contestants all hoping to walk away with the jackpot prize after beating the Chaser.
James, 22, Liz, 51, Premal, 37, Kate, 44, were welcomed on to the show alongside today’s Chaser Jenny Ryan.
James got the team off to a bad start as he was beaten by the Chaser during his head-to-head round.
However Liz earned an impressive £7,000 in the cash builder round which she successfully added to the jackpot and Premal rejoined the team with £1,000 after taking the lower offer from Jenny.
Bradley welcomed Kate on to the show next and asked: “What do you do for a hobby?” but Kate struggled to answer.
“You’ve forgotten now, haven’t you?” Bradley remarked as Kate agreed and confessed: “I’m sorry, it’s because I’m so excited because I’m a big fan.”
Reassuring Kate, Bradley added: “But you’re on it, you don’t have to be nervous!,” before he wished her good luck and continued with the show.
Viewers watching found the funny side and took to Twitter to comment.
One said: “Hahah I forgot what my hobby is wtf? Howww? #thechase,” and another wrote with a number of laughing emojis: “She’s forgotten her made up hobby. #thechase.”
However some fans shared Bradley’s view and cheered Kate on. One confessed: “I like Kate #thechase.”
A second tweeted: “I think Kate is every one of us tweeters who freely, and rightly, critique contestants but will forget our own name if we ever were to appear on the show! #thechase.”
Unfortunately, Kate was beaten by Jenny and the remaining contestants failed to win the jackpot prize.
Earlier in the week, viewers cringed as Mark Labbett mentioned his ex-wife during the show.
One question during the first contestant’s head-to-head round led to awkward comment from Mark about his wife which viewers were quick to pick up on.
Bradley asked Leon and the Chaser: “Percale is a variety of what fabric?” and read out “Leather,” “Cotton,” and “Linen,” as the possible answers.
Mark, who answered correctly with “Cotton”, then remarked: “My lovely wife bought me as a birthday present a book of fashion terms, thank you darling.”
Mark and his wife Katie Labbett were reported to have spilt earlier this year.
Bradley was left speechless by the admission which was clearly filmed before the spilt.
Viewers watching at home were quick to comment on the awkward moment as one remarked: “Oh that’s a little awkward #TheChase.”
Another said: “Thought Mark’s wife was now his ex – how old is this show? #thechase,” and a third wrote: “Great timing to show this episode. Lovely wife. #TheChase.”
The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm.
