The Boys season two is arriving on Prime Video on September 4 and fans are excited for the next instalment. The superhero series is based on the comics of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The group of vigilantes sets about taking down some of the most notorious villains and Express.co.uk has everything you need to know about who is in the cast.

Who is in the cast of The Boys season 2?

Billy Butcher – Karl Urban

Billy Butcher is the leader of The Boys and he was grieving the loss of his wife who disappeared.

He was approached by the CIA who invited him to lead a team of vigilantes who take down supervillains.

He is determined to avenge his wife’s disappearance, but he causes plenty of turmoil along the way.

Karl Urban is a New Zealand actor, aged 48, who is best known for his roles in The Lord of the Rings and Dredd.

He started his career featuring in a number of New Zealand shows including Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess.

Hugh Campbell – Jack Quaid

Hughie, as he is more fondly known, joined The Boys after his girlfriend was killed by a superhero.

Butcher heard of Hughie’s loss and asked him to join the group of vigilantes, even though they have very different personalities.

Hughie is known for being one of the more uptight members of the group, but he has managed to take down a few enemies.

Jack Quaid is a 28-year-old American actor who was born into a family of actors.

His father is Dennis Quaid and his mother is Meg Ryan, and both are well-known.

Jack is known for his roles in The Hunger Games, Plus One and Logan Lucky.

Frenchie – Tomer Capon

Frenchie is another original member of The Boys and he has fallen out with his boss in the past.

He specialises in providing weapons and explosives, and he does not always get along with Butcher.

However, he has formed bonds with Hughie and The Female and he has become one of the most likeable characters.

Tomer Capon is a 35-year-old Israeli film actor and model, who is known for his roles in Fauda and Hostages.

On Instagram, he said: “Comment ca va? The French man is back, season two drops on [September 4] on @amazonprimevideo.”

Mother’s Milk – Laz Alonso

Mother’s Milk is known to his friends as M.M and he is another original member of The Boys.

He often acts as a voice of reason for the group and brings Butcher back down to earth.

He is simply trying to live a quiet life with his family, but he is dragged into the chaos.

M.M is one of the most level-headed members of the group, although he often falls out with some members.

Laz Alonso is a 46-year-old American actor who is known for his roles in Avatar and Fast and Furious.

Kimiko “The Female” – Karen Fukuhara

Kimiko’s character is different from the original comic books as she is a test subject of Compound V.

She is given superhuman strength and is forced to spend the rest of her life apart from her family.

Her character is known to have trust issues, but she has built a friendship with Frenchie and is considered to be part of the group.

Karen Fukuhara is a 28-year-old American actress who is known for her roles in Suicide Squad and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.

Speaking to JoBlo.com she said: “You can expect a lot of action from The Female, she is the muscle of the group. The first season is about her finding herself and her position within The Boys.”

Homelander – Anthony Starr

Homelander is known as the world’s most powerful superhero and he is the leader of The Seven.

He is considered to be the main villain in the series and he has similar powers to Superman.

He was created in a lab and this causes him to have problems when it comes to empathising with others.

Anthony Starr is a New Zealand actor who is known for his roles in Outrageous Fortune and Without a Paddle.

He posted a photo of his character on Instagram with the message: “Can’t wait for you to see the insanity…or perhaps escape the insanity of the real world…I’m fairly sure you guys will like it.”

Annie January/Starlight – Erin Moriarty

Before she joined The Seven, Annie January was known as Starlight for her ability to control light energy.

She forms a relationship with Hughie, without realising he is a member of the enemy group.

She abandons him for a time, but in a surprising u-turn, she starts working together with The Boys at the end of the first season.

Erin Moriarty is a 26-year-old American actress who is best known for her roles in Jessica Jones and One Life to Live.

She posted a photo of her character on Instagram with the message: “Your face superhero ain’t playing nice no more.”

Queen Maeve – Dominique McElligott

Queen Maeve is another member of The Seven, but she does not get along well with her leader.

She was once in a relationship with him but their bond broke and she turns against him.

She does her best to protect the other females in the group, including Annie, as she sees a part of herself in Starlight.

Dominique McElligott is an Irish actress who is known for her roles in House of Cards and Hell on Wheels.

She also starred in The Last Tycoon and The Astronaut Wives Club.

The Deep – Chace Crawford

The Deep is part of The Seven and he developed a bad reputation at the hands of Starlight in season one.

His personality begins to change throughout the series and he is known for his ability to communicate with sea animals.

Chace Crawford is a 35-year-old American actor who is known for his roles in Gossip Girl and The Covenant.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly he said: “It’s obviously a dark, complicated character but to get to do some comedy as well and have fun with the character and make fun of the superhero tropes is something that’s completely different for me.”

A-Train – Jessie T. Usher

A-Train leaves a trail of destruction wherever he goes and he was responsible for killing Hughie’s girlfriend.

He later killed his own partner and as a result, he is close to being kicked out of The Seven.

He is known for his super-speed and he is the fastest man in the world.

Jessie T. Usher is an American actor who is known for his roles in Survivor’s Remorse and Level Up.

He is also known for his roles in Shaft and Dangerous Lies.

Nathan Mitchell will also return to the series as the mysterious Black Noir, and Better Call Saul star Giancarlo Esposito will be back as Mr Edgar.
