'The Bachelor': What Really Happens in the Fantasy Suites?

Every season of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette there is a time when the star picks contestants for fantasy suites. This is a mysterious point on the show because cameras don’t follow the couples in the suites the entire time. What actually happens in there? Here is everything you need to know.

Some of the couples really have sex in fantasy suites

Fantasy suites are set aside as the first night the star can spend the night with one of the contestants. We don’t see what actually happens but there are some hints dropped that they might have had sex. It turns out, that really does happen.

“It goes down,” revealed Season 6 star of The Bachelorette, Ali Fedotowsky on Hollywood Today Live. She also said that she believes those who get intimate with the star “have an advantage.”

Courtney Robertson also wrote in her book, I Didn’t Come Here To Make Friends: Confessions of a Reality Show Villain, that she and Ben Flajnik had “intense, passionate sex” in the fantasy suite on The Bachelor according to the Daily Mail. She also revealed how production doesn’t exactly prepare you to do the deed.

Production doesn’t offer condoms

Although fantasy suites come with some expectation that there will be sex, Robertson said condoms weren’t left for them. She also wrote about getting alone time with Flajnik.

“Ten minutes after we were in the cottage, the camera crews, handlers, and producers scrammed, and we were completely alone for the first time ever,” she wrote. “We immediately ripped each other’s clothes off and had intense, passionate sex on the couch in front of the fire. Producers had left a cell phone for use in case of emergency, but they did not leave us any condoms.”

She isn’t the only one that talked about enjoying time away from people who worked on the show.

They are able to talk more privately

Fans probably notice that the conversations happening on the show aren’t like the ones people have on regular dates. You won’t see them talk about anything too controversial, but this alone time might be key to getting around that.

Jillian Harris talked about her time in the fantasy suite with Jason Mesnick. “We had a great time in the hot tub and we had great conversation,” she told People. “It was great to have a lot of off-camera time with him and be able to chat about the things we weren’t able to chat about on camera.”

Fantasy suites aren’t all about alone time and sex. Sometimes stars don’t even stay in the suite!

Some stars actually leave so they don’t have to get intimate with a contestant

Viewers often see the star of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette ask contestants if they want to go to the fantasy suite. The answer is usually yes, but even if they accept the couple might not spend the entire night together.

Fedotowsky revealed she avoided getting that close to a contestant. “For example, on my season I know I wanted to be with one guy, so I didn’t even want to spend the night with the other guy. So I asked one of the producers to call and make up an excuse for me to be able to leave the room,” she said.

It sounds like there are a lot of things that happen in the fantasy suites which could include sex, private conversations, and even the star completely leaving the room.
