THE Apprentice has been going for more than 14 years, racking up nearly 200 episodes.
Now, after all that time, the series has finally got its first blind contestant.
I’m told that this year’s hopefuls filmed the opening shots to the BBC1 programme on Sunday, and one was using a white stick.
The entrepreneurs vying to win a deal with Lord Sugar were spotted parading back and forth in front of cameras at Chiswick Business Park in west London.
An onlooker said: “It’s amazing that given how long the show has been running they’ve not had a blind contestant until now.
“The hopeful in question shot several takes with the rest of this year’s wannabes.
“He was treated just like any other member of the production, and rightly so, and will be hoping that he can go a long way in the competition.”
A spokeswoman said: “We are not able to reveal any details about the candidates until nearer the show airing later this year.”
For more than an hour, the 16 contestants were asked to walk over a bridge and back.
Hopefully the screened footage will turn out better than that, or we could be in for something as dull as the last couple of series.
Double dating
LOVE Island has more than its share of spats, but Channel 5 will be taking things to a whole new level with its dating show for identical twins.
Raunchy new series The Perfect Pair will see single men go on dates with a pair of sisters wanting to find love.
Filming will take place in a luxury UK location and begins next month.
A source said: “For many blokes this is the fantasy, but it will see the twins fighting it out for their man. Expect fiery arguments, lingering snogs and warring sisters.
“Producers are hopeful it could be a runaway success.”
Sounds like double trouble.
Alan's off to the pictures
ALAN Carr swaps his trademark Chatty Man sofa for the director’s chair on new Sky One panel show There’s Something About Movies.
The funnyman will test the nation’s film trivia alongside comedian Micky Flanagan and Hollywood star Michael Sheen when the show launches on Thursday. We will even see Alan testing out his acting chops too.
He said: “Grab your popcorn as we test the stars on their cinema knowledge, get all the Hollywood gossip behind the scenes and with some acting master classes I see if I’ve got what it takes to make it in tinsel town (spoiler alert – I haven’t).
“It’s going to be so much fun”
I’m sure superstar pal Adele could give him a leg up in Hollywood.
Dodgy curry
THE cast and crew of Line Of Duty are used to a challenge as they make telly’s most complex drama. But they were nearly thwarted by an unlikely hurdle – a dodgy prawn curry.
Rochenda Sandall, Lisa McQueen in the BBC1 thriller, says her and Stephen Graham’s upset stomachs nearly ruined the scene where the criminals communicate by laptop with bent copper, H.
Speaking yesterday on This Morning, she said: “We all started to go a bit pasty . . . I said: ‘What did you have for dinner?’ and he [Stephen] said, ‘I’ve had the prawn curry’. And it was: “we’ve all had the prawn curry!” – a domino effect among all the crew.
“I was quite surprised you couldn’t tell. Bless the make up girls.” Sounds as if she’s trying to curry favour with them.
Soapbox
JEAN is delighted when Sean turns up just before a chemo session during tonight’s episode of EastEnders.
But when Sean demands to know Jean’s prognosis from the doctors she shuts the conversation down. She later convinces her son to go on a day trip with her.
Elsewhere in Walford Faith is so unhappy that Pollard has been ignoring her that she ends up locking lips with Bear.
In Neighbours, Paul is furious that Leo went skinny-dipping with Roxy when he should have been at work – so he fires him.

Biz bit
GOOD news if you like The Durrells. Josh O’Connor, who plays Larry, says that although they’ve filmed the last series it could return as an Easter or Christmas special.
He even added: “We could do a Downton and make a movie.”
