The Apprentice fans can't believe candidates didn't know the meaning of the word 'provenance'

The Apprenticeviewerswere in uproar tonight (November 21) after several team members became confused over a relatively simple word.

The task set by Lord Sugar was to travel up to Glasgow and become art dealers, but as three of the girls negotiated with some potential clients, they came across a massive (and awkward) stumbling block.

“We’re looking for a piece or pieces that reflect three key pillars: innovation, provenance and experience,” said one client in her brief.

But when the candidates reconvened with the rest of Team Collaborative, it became rather clear that none of them knew how to deconstruct one of these ideals.

“Do we know what provenance means?” Jackie questioned.

Camilla replied: “I think it’s like, so, provenance, provoke…?”

Sarah Ann added: “I thought provenance was in relation to the province you’re from.”

Jackie then concluded: “Okay, so nobody knows.”

Ok, we sympathise to an extent since “provenance” isn’t exactly a word you come across on a daily basis, but the world out there is cruel and Apprentice fans just wouldn’t let it go.

Meanwhile, it was Jasmine Kundra’s turn to face the wrath of Lord Sugar tonight, as she was sent packing after being thrown into the boardroom with Tom and Sabrina.

The Apprentice returns next Wednesday (November 28) on BBC One at 8pm.
