‘American History X’
American History X tells the story of two brothers, Derek (Edward Norton) and Danny (Edward Furlong) who get involved in the neo-Nazi movement; when one brother changes his views, he tries to turn the other toward another path. This 1998 movie earned Norton an Academy Award nomination.
‘The Firm’
Tom Cruise stars in this 1993 adaptation of the John Grisham bestseller. He plays Mitch McDeere, a young lawyer who goes to work for a shadowy firm with a roster of suspicious clients. Holly Hunter received a best supporting actress nomination for her role as the secretary to a private investigator Mitch hires to investigate his employer.
‘The Adventures of Tintin’
Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of the beloved Belgian comic book series The Adventures of Tintin earned a number of awards after its 2011 release, including Golden Globe for best animated film. It stars Jamie Bell as Tintin.
‘New Jack City’
Mario Van Peebles directed this 1991 crime thriller starring Wesley Snipes, Ice-T, Chris Rock, and Judd Nelson. The gritty drama about the New York City drug trade earned mostly favorable reviews, with Roger Ebert calling it “a serious, smart film with an impact that lingers after the lights go up.”
