Tess Daly pays emotional tribute to Terry Wogan before Children In Need and promises to continue his legacy

The Strictly Come Dancing host is presenting the annual fundraising programme, which Terry fronted for many years before his tragic death in January 2016.

In Vernon Kay's wife's emotional post, she shared a picture of herself with Terry and gushed about the much-loved presenter.

The post read: "Always in our hearts and, especially today, never far from our thoughts.

"Sir Terry Wogan was Life President of Children In Need and during his time working tirelessly for the charity he cared so much about, over £800 million was raised.

"He was a true gentleman; truly one of a kind."

The beauty declared she loved working with Terry, who died in 2016 aged 77 after a battle with cancer, and still misses him dearly.

She added: "I loved working with him and laughing with him and I miss him."

Tess has vowed to continue Terry's 'incredible legacy."

She wrote: "We promise to work hard to continue your incredible legacy.

"I’m sure that he’ll be smiling down on us tonight."

Tess' heartwarming tribute attracted a lot of attention, and encouraged other celebrities to share their fond memories of Terry.

Zoe Ball commented on Tess' post, writing: "Special man.  Have a fab night Tess. He'd be very proud."

Gaby Roslin added: "Loved him.  Have a great night", before Tess was flooded with sweet comments from fans.

Children In Need's main show will air on BBC One from 7.30pm to 10pm, and continue on BBC Two from 10pm for an extra 40 minutes.
