Tanya Bardsley quits ITV’s Real Housewives of Cheshire in emotional scenes

Real Housewives of Cheshire star Tanya Bardsley has announced that she's quitting the show after six years – and she's "absolutely gutted" to be leaving.

The 40-year-old model has appeared on the ITV show for six years – and she's one of the original cast members.

However, she's now decided to step away from the popular reality show after battling with mental health issues behind the scenes – such as her ADHD diagnosis.

Tanya revealed the sad news on the Real Housewives' reunion episode – in emotional scenes which aired to ITV on Tuesday night (December 21).

The mum-of-four started crying as she announced she was leaving the show – and opened up about her her mental health struggles.

Speaking to presenter Brian Dowley, Tanya said: "I'm having to take a step back from the show which I'm absolutely gutted about, because I absolutely love the show, and I love the crew.

"The crew are like family to me, and some of the girls."

She then managed a smile as she quickly added: "Not all of them."

Tanya confessed that she's decided to "go back to having ADHD" as she's come off of her medication.

She went on: "I've just decided to go back to having ADHD – I've come off the pills. I'm still learning to navigate my health and stuff like that so I'm just going to be stepping back from Housewives and being the number one fan."

Fans of lovable Tanya will be delighted to hear that she teased a return to the popular show in the future.

She added: "You never know, one day I might be back…"

It comes after Tanya collapsed during a shoot due to overworking – an incident that happened a few months ago.

Bardsley revealed that her husband – ex-Manchester United player Phil Bardsley – was forcing her to rest up after the scary health scare.

The brave mum opened up about the incident on social media – where she said that her "brain and body shut down."

Tanya said: "The @myglamstyleuk photoshoot I will never forget.

"One minute in the studio the next minute in a ambulance, I collapsed from stress from over working and basically trying to be perfect in every area of my life,mum, wife, business woman, carer for poorly relatives, my brain and body shut down as a warning.

"I’m having a few days off my phone so sorry to any1 if I don’t reply to messages and emails @phil_bardsley is forcing me to rest."

Tanya was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 39 and has been treated for anxiety – revealing her ADHD diagnosis in May.

The stunner made her debut on The Real Housewives of Cheshire in 2015 – and she starred alongside her co-stars Leanne Brown, Ampika Pickston, Magali Gorré, Lauren Simon and Dawn Ward.

She has spoken out openly about her mental health struggles, and she told her fellow housewives about her ADHD diagnosis.

Bardsley had been speaking to Nicole Sealey, Lauren Simon, Rachel Lugo and new Housewives star Debbie Davies.

She said: "I have been diagnosed with ADHD so I'm just trying to level my medication out and stuff. I'd been medicated for anxiety and depression in the past."
