Syfy Sets Return Date For ‘Happy!’, Releases Season 2 Trailer

Syfy’s Happy! is returning just in time to – as one of the characters insists in this new trailer – make Easter great again. The network has set March 27 for the Season 2 premiere.

In its second season, the dark comedy based on the irreverent graphic novel of the same name finds alcoholic ex-cop turned hit man Nick Sax (Christopher Meloni) and his bizarre imaginary kinda-unicorn-looking pal Happy (voiced by Patton Oswalt) on the trail of a child kidnapping ring. Or something along those lines – nothing is ever quite what it seems on this show.

Best moment of the trailer: The “best crazy person room” Sax has ever seen – a villain’s hide-out complete with those red strings linking various clues and evidence. It’s a note-perfect send-up of a trope all too familiar from Meloni’s old stomping grounds at Law & Order: SVU.

The villain, by the way, has some nefarious proposition for a bunch of priests to re-brand the Easter holiday.

Happy! is from Universal Cable Productions, and in addition to Meloni and Oswalt stars Patrick Fischler, Ritchie Coster, Lili Mirojnick, Medina Senghore, Christopher Fitzgerald and Bryce Lorenzo. The series is written and executive produced by Brian Taylor and comic book writer Grant Morrison. Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty and Toby Jaffe of Original Film, Meloni and showrunner Patrick Macmanus will also executive produce.

Season 2 of Happy! premieres Wednesday, March 27 at 10/9c on Syfy. Watch the trailer above.
