Supreme Leader Snoke rumoured for Star Wars Episode IX return

Despite being – you know – very much dead, rumours are swirling that Star Wars‘ Supreme Leader Snoke could return in Episode IX. Because of course.

In case you’d forgotten, the mysterious baddie and leader of the First Order met his maker after Kylo Ren sliced him in half in The Last Jedi, and in case there were any doubts, he looked pretty lifeless to us.

However, Snoke actor Andy Serkis cancelling his appearance at this weekend’s Keystone Comic Convention due to a scheduling conflict has got many Star Wars fans talking.

Many are speculating that this was due to commitments to Episode IX, especially after previous convention cancellations by stars Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) and Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca) turned out to be because of Star Wars shooting.

However, it’s worth noting that Serkis’ absence could literally be for any other project – he is always working on a million things, after all.

That said, the actor’s upcoming listed credits on IMDb are either completed or in post-production, so unless he’s doing pick-ups, Serkis may be committed to the next chapter in the saga.

Which brings us to the question of how Snoke could come back. Well, he may appear in a flashback of some sort. Or as a ghost. Or maybe he didn’t die (OK, we don’t think that one is true).

Either way, file this one under a very hesitant maybe.

In other Episode IX news, Mark Hamill may have teased what part of the title could be.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is out now on Blu-ray, DVD and digital download. Star Wars: Episode IX will be released on December 20, 2019.
