Strictly's Karen Clifton refuses to discuss Katya Jones and Seann Walsh 'kissgate' with Carol Vorderman and says they don't talk about the scandal backstage

The professional dancer laughed and stalled when Lorraine Kelly's stand-in Carol Vorderman probed her about her colleagues smooching in a London street.

Then she shut down the question altogether, and insisted her and Charles Venn are focused on their own practice, telling the host: "Actually the fact that we've been in the bottom two, that's all we've been focusing on.

"All we're thinking is how we are going to deal with our dance, but sometimes it's hard to focus on anything else."

Realising she couldn't dig up any more dirt, Carol, 57, asked Charles, 45, and Karen, 36, to give a sneak preview of their upcoming jive.

They danced to Rocky Horror track Time Warp – but viewers were far from impressed.

One viewer said on Twitter: "I’ve just caught 45 seconds of people from Strictly doing the time warp on Lorraine and unfortunately I’ve cringed to."

Another wrote: "Christ, hope they dance better than that on Saturday."

A third said: "No offence Karen, but I thought that Charles Danced that a bit better just a tiny weeny bit better."

Despite the dodgy preview, pair pulled themselves out of the bottom two this weekend with an incredible dance on Saturday night.

Speaking about the challenges on Strictly, London-born Charles said: "Obviously being in the bottom two the last couple of weeks there was a lot of expectation.

"Coming from the royal area of Mozart Estate I couldn't let the side down."

Karen added: "(Charles) is very emotional especially on Monday and Tuesdays because they are the hardest days in the week.

"They are the days you have to learn all of the moves.

"It's a lovely thing not being in the bottom two but you have to pick yourself up.

"It's a big thing. You always have to look at the brighter side of things."
