Strictly’s Danny John Jules looks tense as he admits his shocking Samba training

Strictly Come Dancing’s Danny John Jules looked awkward as he discussed his training for this week’s Samba.

He and his partner, Amy Dowden, struggled last week as he mis-stepped in the first few minutes, meaning the pair were totally out of sync for the majority of the dance.

Judge Bruno Tonioli said he "covered up a lot of mistakes" in his dance, but it seems it may be difficult for him to do the same this week in the very tricky Samba, which he looked awkward about from the moment it was mentioned.

Zoe Ball asked him how training had been going, at which point Danny grimaced and started to make some noises, as Amy looked frsutrated at his negativity.

She asserted it was going well, before Danny continued: "Again, after the weekend I came in like a girder – really tense – and I was trying to get the legs working.

"They were tight for the first couple of days and Ian told me about a particular step, and I was like, ‘Ok, this is really bad,’ but yesterday and today I’m so much more at ease now."

Amy told Zoe she "doesn’t like talking" about the bad scores of last week, but explained to him what went wrong, at which he looked pretty frsutrated to have his mistakes highlighted again.

She said she held him stronger to lead him around the floor, about which Danny said: "I just felt two vices just strapping me like that.

"’You’re coming this way! I don’t care where you want to go!’"

Describing the moment when they found out they were going through, Danny revealed: "I was totally shocked, I couldn’t hear nothing. It was like I was surrounded in cotton wool, it was like, ‘is that my name, really?’"

He then was forced on his feet for an awkward "Danny Time" version of their famed Demo Time segment, where he had to perform moves which he has created with Amy in training, but he looked a little shy to strut his stuff in the studio.

It Takes Two airs weekdays at 6.30pm on BBC2, and at 6pm on Fridays on BBC2.
