Strictly Come Dancing's Shirley Ballas got "sincere" apology over Craig Revel Horwood insult

Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has revealed that she received a “sincere” apology from Craig Revel Horwood over his insulting comments about her.

Horwood was reported to have joked about his co-judge’s low-cut attire during a book event last month.

However, The Sun now quotes Ballas as saying that the pair have made up, but she wouldn’t make such jokes herself.

“I don’t think it’s appropriate for anyone to make comments about anyone else – be it about their body or anything they do – when working as a team,” she said.

“I’m a team player and I have the backs of my fellow people. Yes, I got an apology – a sincere apology.

“I don’t need anybody to make me feel bad about myself. I can do that to myself. To each his own. I don’t think you need to sell anything off the back of making anybody else look small. I don’t think joking about somebody else’s body is funny.”

Ballas also spoke out about some of the abuse she has received on social media after the show airs.

“I might quit Twitter,” she said. “There have been horrible comments. After the show, people’s emotions run high. Instead of taking a breath, they just write.

“Some woman said, ‘I really hate her. I think we should smash her in the teeth with a chair’ – or something like that. I wonder sometimes what place those people are in.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday (November 17) at 6.45pm, followed by the results show on Sunday (November 18) at 7.20pm. This week’s results show will also feature a live performance from pop legends Take That.
