While almost everything may be positively apocalyptic in the wake of Brexit, one thing that apparently won’t be ruined by it is Strictly Come Dancing.
Well that’s a relief, isn’t it?
The UK government has assured fans that the celebrity dancing show won’t be threatened by the country leaving the EU, whenever that may be.
This comes following claims from the Liberal Democrat leader Sir Vince Cable – who appeared on the Strictly Christmas special in 2010 – that a “cack-handed” immigration policy could stop EU dancers from appearing on the show.
Cable, who wants to halt Brexit, told The Telegraph: “As British society falls apart it could pose a risk to Strictly.”
“If we have a cack-handed immigration policy like what we have for non-EU citizens, all kinds of perverse decisions could be made.”
But a spokesperson from Downing Street has put everyone’s minds at as ease by stating: “I think Strictly will be fine.”
The show itself has been faced with its own conspiracy claims, as some fans have accused it of being fixed.
But in an interview with The Sun, generally hard-to-please judge Craig Revel Horwood has rubbished rumours that they’re deliberately keeping Seann Walsh and Katya Jones in the competition for the sake of ratings.
The accusations came after Vick Hope and Graziano Di Prima bowed out of the show following a dance-off with Walsh and Jones.
Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday (October 27) on BBC One with its Halloween special.
