Chris, 33, and his Strictly Come Dancing professional partner Karen Hauer, 37, took to the dance floor twice during last night’s semi-final, but it was the Rumba which got the comedian choked up. After performing a Viennese Waltz as well, the BBC dance show contestant found himself bottom of the leaderboard, which left viewers more than a little disappointed as they questioned the dance choices which had been made for him for the semi-finals.
After performing their opening routine in the first-half of last night’s show, Chris and Karen took to the stage to demonstrate their Rumba skills.
Dancing to Don’t Watch Me Cry by Jorja Smith, it was clear the routine was going to prove an emotional one for viewers.
Hugging his professional partner as the dance concluded, the comedian could be seen telling her he was crying at the end.
Speaking with host Tess Daly, 50, he went on to explain: “I actually cried at the end there. Genuinely, I really cried.”

Referring to an error he made in the first dance, the comedian continued: “I was thinking about that mistake in the Viennese Waltz.”
As he became choked up with emotion, the judges then gave their critique and awarded Chris a total of 28 out of 40.
Taking to Twitter, fans of the show questioned why the celebrity contestant had been given such dances to take on the week before the final.
One wrote: “can’t believe they’re making chris ramsey go out on a rumba.”

Another added: “Chris Ramsey has been stitched up a bit tonight. I know he’s the weakest remaining but he’s been given two harsh, difficult dances in one go which isn’t really fair. Hope he gets the votes.”
Whilst a third commented: “@bbcstrictly who the hell chooses the music? Chris Ramsey stitched up. That was NOT Rumba music.”
As the contestant hadn’t yet performed the specific dances he took on in the semi-final, this is why he would have demonstrated such skills on the dance floor this weekend.
However, others commended the comedian and voiced their delight at his performances regardless of the scores.
A fourth remarked: “chris ramsey is what strictly come dancing is about a non-dancer that puts his heart and soul into every routine and just enjoys every single last moment! chris & karen have all my votes #strictly.”

“Regardless of the result @IAmChrisRamsey and @karen_hauer are my strictly winners. Absolutely love them and I dont even watch strictly #Strictly #teamchris #chrisramsey,” a fifth opined.
After getting their critique from the judges, the pair joined host Claudia Winkleman, 47, to reflect on their Rumba.
Chris told the presenter: “It’s so weird, it’s so weird. Yesterday when we ran it, halfway through the dance I wanted to go, ‘Are you alright? You look miserable love, are you OK?’ It’s been ridiculous.
“It’s been ridiculous. One dance was hard enough for me, this has been crazy,” he continued.

Speaking of their final hopes, Karen added: “As you can see we’re not perfect. But you know what? He’s a non-dancer and he made it to the semis.
“And I think that that little boy who’s at home watching, Robin, will be very proud of you!” she continued, referring to the comedian’s son.
Latest odds from the bookmakers have Chris as the favourite to leave tonight, just short of next weekend’s Grande Finale.
Coral bookmakers have his chances of making an exit at 2-7, with his chances of winning at 6-1.
Viewers will have to tune in to see if the hot favourite to leave can defy the odd once again.
Strictly Come Dancing 2019 continues tonight at 7.20pm on BBC One.
