Strictly Come Dancing 2019: Anneka Rice dealt cruel blow weeks before launch

Strictly Come Dancing is only a few weeks away from returning to television screens and taking over the nation’s Saturday nights.

Earlier this month, the full celebrity contestant line-up was announced and 15 famous faces are currently practicing the basic steps ahead of the launch.

In the meantime, speculation is rife as to which celebrities are going to be a success and it is no surprise the bookmakers have experience a flurry of bets.

And according to Paddy Power, they have predicted who will be the first female to exit the competition.

It seems Anneka Rice could be following in Susannah Constantine’s footsteps from last year’s show and leave in week one.

She, alongside Emma Weymouth are the only females to have the highest odds on not winning the show overall.

Sitting at 16/1, it seems fans of Strictly have little faith in Anneka to lift the Glitterball Trophy.

Thus meaning, if few bets are being placed, few votes when the show starts could potentially be placed.

As for which males are less likely to win the series, BBC Breakfast Mike Bushell has odds at 33/1.

While sports reporter is going to “throw [himself] into the whole experience”, it seems his clumsy nature could hinder his chances of scooping the winner’s spot.

Nevertheless, even though Paddy Power put Mike at the bottom of the leaderboard, they predict he will become the viewers’ favourite instead.

As for who could be following in Stacey Dooley’s footsteps, football pundit Alex Scott has odds on at 5/1.

But it seems she will face stiff competition from Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley who is in second place with odds at 6/1.

Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing is the favourite male, and could reach the final with odds at 7/1.

Alongside the new celebrities, the professional dancer line-up has also had a little shake-up.

Following Pasha Kovlev’s announcement he would be leaving the show, Nancy Xu has joined the BBC.

As for who is going to receive a celebrity partner, BBC viewers will have to wait until the launch to see the pairings.

The judging panel is also going to have a new face, as Dame Darcey Bussell is replaced by Motsi Mabuse.

Alongside this, the BBC announced earlier in the year that the spin off show It Takes Two would be presented by a duo this year.

Making his debut and Zoe Ball on BBC Two weekday evenings will be Rylan Clark-Neal.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One in September.
