Strictly 2019: ‘It’s hard’ Emma Barton’s fate ‘sealed’ after Anton Du Beke confession?

Strictly Come Dancing stalwart Anton Du Beke and his partner Emma Barton have been going from strength to strength on the BBC show. However in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, the professional dancer has confessed the path to the Glitterball Trophy could be “difficult” for the pair.

Anton was asked if he can predict how far him and Emma will go in the competition.

“I don’t really know, because it’s so difficult,” Anton remarked.

“And I say so because there are so many lovely dancers on the show, doing really well.

“It’s too early to predict really, you sort of just go from week to week.”

Recently Strictly fans were in uproar over the decision to eliminate Dev Griffin after a tough dance-off with Emma Weymouth.

Anton confessed Dev’s departure had an effect on the remaining Strictly competitors.

He continued: “I mean, if anybody had any delusions of grandeur, I think that dance-off sort of threw a spanner in the works.

“It sort of made everybody go ‘Okay, it’s not [that] easy, I’m gonna have to concentrate.”

The professional dancer explained “anybody” be eliminated each week on the show.

“You just try week to week because every week is a new dance, of course, and this dance could be a good dance or a terrible dance,” he confessed.

“It’s a classic situation where we didn’t expect [Dev to go] but you think ‘It can happen to anybody’ and it just focuses the mind.”

“Anybody can go,” the Strictly stalwart added.

Anton went on to praise Emma and her progress in the competition so far.

“She’s coming along beautifully,” he said. “I think she’s doing very well.

“She’s getting better and improving and she was terrific [dancing the Viennese Waltz].”

However Anton admitted it can be “hard” maintaining a high standard when a celebrity is given a dance that really suits them.

Anton continued: “We’ve got to try and match those scores but it’s hard so there’s potential for us to go down.

“But it depends how you come back from that so there’s a whole rollercoaster for her.”

“I’m delighted to be dancing with her,” he added.
